The fact that he doesn t even attempt to post up opposing PGs when he s half a foot taller than him is baffling to me.

The main arguments are that it s Embiid s territory and post up is inefficient, but the Sixers should be fine with Ben and Embiid playing separately and post ups are only bad compared to 3s, which he isn t shooting anyway. Plus how many open shots will the Sixers get if you now have to double Ben in the post. It would be ridiculous

The problem is that the fanbase loves Ben Simmons, maybe even over Joel Embiid. It may not show here on reddit, but go on the Sixers instagram when there s a loss and often times a lot of the blame falls on Joel Embiid. It doesnt help that he s sometimes not healthy or that he cried at the end of that Game 7 (and now has a soft image attached to him).

I think part of that is that Ben Simmons is incredibly consistent. You know what to expect from him. He passes and doesnt shoot and only drives, he regularly gets 10 points a game. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid can and does have terrible games. I m not saying Ben Simmons is great or better for being consistent though.

It s not just the best trade package... that s for teams that want to rebuild, like the Pels trading AD. Sixers want to compete, so they d be seeking out a package that would fit around Simmons right now, with more of a focus on productive players, and less of a focus on draft assets.

It would never happen (star trades like this among division foes are basically non-existent), but I think a Celtics trade would be interesting.... something built around Embiid for Tatum and Smart.

Then the Sixers could shift Simmons to center, and be able to surround him with some obscene defense across the board (with a lineup of Smart-Richardson-Tatum-Harris-Simmons, and Horford/Thybulle off the bench), and enough shooting to compensate for Simmons so spacing isn t an issue.

Most of those situations were players asking to be traded or things going toxic between the player and FO. If Jo decides he wants out, I don t think they d hold him hostage in Philly. He seems like he wants to be here, because he s the centerpiece, but you can also see he s been frustrated and/or aloof at different points through the season. Feels like they d change the parts around him before they tried to trade him.

Both Simmons and Embiid can go full out, 100% effort and they ll still run into the issue where both players should be down low, which kills the spacing for the rest of the team (who don t really have any shooters anyway). It s kinda understandable if players begin to realize that the main problem is structural, and that all the effort in the world isn t going to suddenly make the team fit together any better.

AI got traded after 10 years i don t think that s an apt comparison. I can see Simmons getting traded if it get s to that, but there is no way Embiid is getting traded. The truth is, it is stupid for the Sixers to trade either and I haven t once heard a trade for either Simmons or Embiid that leaves the Sixers in a better place. If you aren t going to improve the team, then there is absolutely no reason to trade either
